Robin Caral Shaw

Robin Caral Shaw is certified as a Florida Supreme Court Circuit Civil, Family, and Appellate mediator and is a Florida Supreme Court approved Primary Trainer for the Circuit Civil, County, and Family mediator certification training programs, and is also an Appellate Specialist for the Appellate Mediation Certification training. Robin became the owner of the Mediation Training Group after its founder, Susan Dubow, died in early 2019. She has been the Primary Trainer for MTG since that time, and teaches certification programs regularly as well as monthly continuing CME/CLE/CEU full-day programs, and is planning both lunch-and-learn programs as well as half-day programs both for CLE and CME credit.
Robin is also a mediator for the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Florida, a volunteer grievance mediator for the Florida Bar, and a Florida Qualified Arbitrator. Robin is admitted to the Bar in Florida, the District of Columbia, and Pennsylvania. She was an Associate with a boutique firm in Washington, D.C., went on to be Division Counsel to a Fortune 100 Company, then relocated to Florida where she established her own firm. She is an Adjunct Professor at Nova Law School. Her law practice ranges from in topics varying from Art and Entertainment Law, to Construction and Tax Law, to Family Law and Collaborative Divorce, all of which provide a strong basis for mediating.
Robin has been Chair of the Professional Mediation Institute (PMI) since 2015 and is Past President of both the Florida Academy of Professional Mediators and the Association of South Florida Mediators & Arbitrators. She has been a regular presenter at the Florida Supreme Court’s annual Dispute Resolution Conference since 2000 and has spoken on numerous dispute resolution topics at national, state, and local conferences including Interpersonal Violence, Ethics, Impasse, Mediator Bias, and Diversity.
She was in the Scholar’s Program at Brooklyn College, CUNY where she earned a dual degree (cum laude) in Psychology and Political Science with a minor in French. Her J.D. is from Fordham Law School (while spending two years at Georgetown University Law Center as a Visiting Student). Robin is a graduate of the NY High School of Performing Arts and was an Apprentice with the NYC Ballet Company among many other theater credits.
