IN MEMORY OF SUSAN F. DUBOW (1950-2019), Founder

Susan was a pioneer in the field of alternative dispute resolution. She was the Director of the Court Mediation and Arbitration Program for the 17th Judicial Circuit (Broward County, Florida) for over 22 years. The program administered all Court Mediation programs including Circuit, County, Small Claims, Citizens Dispute/Criminal, Dependency, and Family, as well as the Civil Arbitration program. In 2000, after leaving that position, she created the Mediation Training Group.

Susan was a Florida Supreme Court Certified Circuit, County, and Appellate Mediator, as was a Florida Supreme Court approved Primary Trainer in Circuit Civil, County, and Family Mediation. She served on the Florida Supreme Court’s Mediation Qualifications and Disciplinary Review Board (MQDRB), and for eight years as Vice Chair and Chair of the Mediator Ethics Advisory Committee (MEAC).

She graduated with Honors from Boston University, was an Adjunct Professor at Nova Southeastern University’s Shepard Broad College of Law, and developed curriculum and taught mediation and conflict resolution at Florida Atlantic University.

Susan was Past President of both the Association of South Florida Mediators and Arbitrators (ASFMA) and The Florida Academy of Professional Mediators (FAPM) and was a Diplomate Member of that organization. She was awarded FAPM’s Award of Merit in 2002, and in 2004 was honored with the Dispute Resolution Center’s Award of Appreciation for Distinguished Service. She held the status of Practitioner/Educator with the national Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR).
