This is a 24-hour program on Zoom, taught over three and a half (3.5) days. Days 1,2, and 4 are 9:00am – 5:00pm. Day 3 is 9:00am – 1:00pm. You will receive a Zoom invitation for the training. This training meets all the learning objectives required by the FL Supreme Court’s Dispute Resolution Center for County Mediator Certification and incorporates recent events as well as the knowledge and experience of the trainers and coaches. The program provides an understanding of mediation theory and practical application for cases in Small Claims Court, Landlord-Tenant Eviction Court, or lawsuits that could be heard in County Court if the dispute were to become a lawsuit. Attendees receive an extensive training manual with all relevant statutes, rules, and references, as well as supplemental material. Online instruction includes topics such as: (1) Mediation concepts, techniques, and strategies; (2) how to mediate with and without attorneys as participants; (3) understanding best practices for presuit, voluntary, and court-ordered mediations, (4) how to prepare a settlement agreement; (5) how to evaluate a conflict to see if mediation is the best forum for resolution; and (6) how to handle difficult mediation participants. This program is approved by the Florida Bar for continuing legal education (CLE) credit.
