LET’S TALK ABOUT WHO’S FUNDING THE CASE AND DOES IT MATTER? Third Party Litigation Funding (TPLF)
This CME/CLE course runs from 12:00pm – 1:30pm on Zoom. It provides 1.5 CME and CLE General Hours, .5 CME and CLE Ethics hour, and 1.5 CLE hours for State and Federal Governmental and Administrative Practice. Without legislative or regulatory guidance, there are no rules on whether a party – or a mediator – can ask if there’s outside funding of litigation, how much funding, who controls decision-making, or even request a copy of the funding agreement. The mediator faces ethical dilemmas when questions are asked but not answered or when a resolution seems to be at hand but falls short. This program, presented by Mark Popolizio, JD, a nationally recognized speaker on TPLF, will provide background, highlight issues, and suggest trends, along with a discussion of ethical issues and avoiding impasse with Robin Caral Shaw.
