MEDIATING WITH AN INTERPRETER – Mar. 20, 2026
This CME/CLE live/interactive course is from 12:00pm – 2:10pm on Zoom. It provides 2.5 CME General and .5 CME Ethics Hour, and 2.5 CLE General and .5 CLE Ethics Hour. The presenter, Oscar Franco, FL S. Ct Certified County and Family mediator and approved County Primary Trainer, will discuss topics such as the difference between an interpreter and a translator, the reasons for using an interpreter, types of interpretation, tips for preparing for mediation with an interpreter, and the use of AI as interpreter. Mediating with someone for whom English is not a native tongue or who has a hearing disability is much more productive when a qualified interpreter is present to assure that the party understands the conversation, can fully participate, and can contribute to the drafting of a settlement agreement.
