Lunch ‘n’ Learn Program: ATTORNEY PROFESSIONALISM IN MEDIATION
This is a two and a half (2.5) hour program from 12:00pm – 2:15pm on Zoom.
For Attorneys: 1.5 Attorney Professionalism hours and 1.0 Ethics hour in addition to 2.5 General hours.
For Mediators: 2.5 General hours and 1.0 Ethics hour.
Although the FL Bar has made a change in the Professionalism requirement, lawyers who have a CLE reporting cycle that ends Jan. 31, Feb. 28, or Mar. 31 will not have to take the Bar-produced course in their current cycle.
The Professionalism Expectations created by The Florida Bar Standing Committee on Professionalism do not expressly mention how a Florida attorney should behave in mediation with or on behalf of a client. However, applying those Professionalism Expectations, it is easy to highlight the conduct expected of counsel at mediation.
This program will identify and discuss problematic attorney behavior prior to and during mediation in light of applicable Professionalism Expectations, useful for mediators as well as attorneys in understanding how to elevate the mediation experience for all participants.
